A Fresh New Year

Awaits us!

My knitting and quilting baskets are full to overflowing!

2013 was a wonderful year and I’ve many fun & fantastic customers to thank for that.  I ended the year with a few secret surprise custom knits.

One such knit was this set

IMG_3747IMG_3748

The Mama was kind enough to send me photo’s of her happy little girl

icm_75x75_34473017_9gw6zsre9bkscosgc0wkicm_75x75_34473019_3oci2f418f0gkcwkkkkk

Each attempt to enlarge them makes then very distorted…but I think her smile says enough!

The second set, longies, dress and sweater

IMG_3750IMG_3751IMG_3749

There are about 20 projects I’ve already lined up to work on between customs & I’m eager to start.

I’ve Dollverall’s waiting for buttons, doll dresses blocking  and a test knit that needs photo’s taken .I should have photo’s taken and listings up tomorrow.

Today I’m casting on a custom All in One Sweater & a simple cowl.  The snow is blowing & knitting…it should keep my fingers nice and warm.

Hope this new year brings you Peace and Goodness

Darling Little Knits

For Waldorf dolls.

I’ve admired the “Darling” patterns from Ashley Darling  for quite some time & finally purchased them over the weekend.

The Darling  Little Kimono

Using Dashing Dachs “Horsie”

(I think… I’m so bad about keeping the wrappers)

and a button from Ayarina’s Button shop

This is a fun color which is actually very gender neutral.  Pair this with a simple spreen green or sky blue skirt and you would have an adorable outfit for any little doll.

IMG_1776

And a Darling Little Sweater Dress

Using Micsknitz “Alice In Wonderland” twist & coordinating trim

IMG_1779

These should be listed to the shop this afternoon. I plan to have a few of her Darling Little Rompers & shoes listed in the near future.

These are to fit a 14-16 inch doll.

Wishing you all a safe and fun New Years Eve

See you next year!

A Few Finished Knits

Just a quick post to update a few finished knits

Trying to ship in plenty of  time for Christmas there are quite a few I neglected to take photos of but here are a few things I’ve recently completed

A replacement shorts and sweater set for a 14-16 inch doll

I had donated 3-4 sets to an adoption fundraiser and missed removing the original set from the Etsy shop. I only realized my mistake when I was wrapping to ship….this is the replacement set for an understanding Mama.

IMG_1625

Ahoy Princess Beret Pattern by Elena Nodel & knit using Blissful Knits Adore superwash.

An interesting pattern, one that had me learning a few new stitches.  It was finished with a coordinating flower on the sideIMG_1594

Just listed, a 12-16 skirt.

I’ve just enough left of the main color for a coordinating shrug if needed.

IMG_1619

And a few sewn cotton skirts listed to the shop.

These will fit 14-18 inch dolls

IMG_1612

& SOCK MONKEYS!!

IMG_1574

And for Sara, the winner of the skirt give away…they  are ready to ship this afternoon

Here is one of her choices

IMG_1610

There were 5-6 other shipments that went out I realized to late without photos…which really bugs me!  I’m hoping the Mama’s will send pics

One set of mitts to finish for Christmas shipping today.

Not to bad with a fractured arm, torn rotator cuff and bicep if I do say so myself!

Off to knit!

Stay warm out there

Pfeiffer Falls Hooded Scarf Is in the Mail!

And it turned out beautiful if I do say so myself.

Using Tosh vintage in “Sea wash”  The pattern can be found on Ravelry Pfeiffer Falls Hood

IMG_1407There are a few things I will do different on the next, such as the hood decreases.  Some go up the back and then just stop which leaves a bit of a squared effect…

A quick rain shower cut short our time for many photos but we did get a few.  IMG_1412

There was enough left over for a pair of “Palm Readers” from Vampire Knits

IMG_1413

Photos today of a shrug and coordinating mitts….as long as the sunshine holds up.

On the needles now is a Ahoy Princess Beret by Elena Nodel

I’d started it in one shade and changed to this red

On the Needles With Katidids Knits

On the dry rack blocking …

Fingerless Mitts using Tosh Vintage in the color  “Seawash”

I really enjoy knitting with Tosh, it seems to just glide right off the needles and the repeats have worked well for the chosen projects.  There is a Hooded scarf blocking which I’ll photo tomorrow

IMG_1398

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We had a houseful of people and food, lots of play and laughter.

With all the commotion I didn’t work on custom knits but, I did play with some color and make a few waldorf doll sweaters to coordinate with fabric skirts

IMG_1386

Aside from the pink & red, I’ve purple, teal, and 2-3 more in the pile.

I need to find a few minutes to finish the skirts and they will be listed.

IMG_1387

to the Katidids Etsy Shop soon either as sets or, to purchase individually

On the needles now

A sweater using “Fluer”  on Adore superwash from Blissful Knits

IMG_1349

And a Shrug with another yummy Blissful Knits stunner

“Starry Night”

IMG_1353

I should have WIP photos up soon for Mama’s

Have a wonderful weekend!

Storm Knitting,

In the heat of summer?  Yes!

With tropical storm Isaac hitting Biloxi and & new Orleans we have family who evacuated the area and and came to stay with us till the storm passes.  They pulled in Monday late afternoon and we’ve been having a wonderful visit.  It’s my husbands, cousins, son’s. wife and daughter Whew! Her husband is stationed in Biloxi and needed to stay behind..

Talk about branches on the family tree! Isaiah was here last night and said Grandma, how are they related to me?  Not willing to explain 4th & 5th cousins to a 9 year old I cheated and said your cousins!  Family is always family right?

So, I haven’t tried to work on any customs so far this week.  To much going on to really focus.

There has been knitting in spurts while we chat and visit

Some striped longies.

WIPS 002

A denim blue seed stitch cowl… I finished the last few rows and cast off

WIPS 003

And a mulberry seed stitch cowl

WIPS 004

Seed stitch cowls I hope to have stocked in the next 1-2 days

Warm winter items for the shop that are always popular, and a simple pattern I can easily follow while we visit.  So far their house us ok, a lot of heavy wind and rain.  If  the power stays on she will head home Thursday & I’ll get back to work on customs.

Hope those of you in the south are staying safe and dry!

A few finished knits

I’m seeing fall coming to our neck of the woods, it’s fall or drought dying trees.

So I’ve been pulling out the fall colors…

Small longies & cap.

Both are knit from patterns of Dakine Knits

The hat is “Be Peaceful” from the “Be” Series

Fall 006

Another pair of longies,(Blissful Knits-Pegasus)

this time with a Pixie Hat to coordinate

Pixie Hood & Pegasus 001

And a test knit “Gilead Sweater” another great design by Emily Barbee  a wonderful up and coming knit designer.  She has a fun collection of patterns listed in Ravelry.

It’s been done for 2 weeks waiting on buttons to be sewn on.

Gilead Sweater 001

I’m thinking it needs a pair of green longies to coordinate

& embellished with the sweater color

Lot’s of other projects going on, I’ll have more up in the next day or so.
