A Fresh New Year

Awaits us!

My knitting and quilting baskets are full to overflowing!

2013 was a wonderful year and I’ve many fun & fantastic customers to thank for that.  I ended the year with a few secret surprise custom knits.

One such knit was this set

IMG_3747IMG_3748

The Mama was kind enough to send me photo’s of her happy little girl

icm_75x75_34473017_9gw6zsre9bkscosgc0wkicm_75x75_34473019_3oci2f418f0gkcwkkkkk

Each attempt to enlarge them makes then very distorted…but I think her smile says enough!

The second set, longies, dress and sweater

There are about 20 projects I’ve already lined up to work on between customs & I’m eager to start.

I’ve Dollverall’s waiting for buttons, doll dresses blocking  and a test knit that needs photo’s taken .I should have photo’s taken and listings up tomorrow.

Today I’m casting on a custom All in One Sweater & a simple cowl.  The snow is blowing & knitting…it should keep my fingers nice and warm.

Hope this new year brings you Peace and Goodness

A Few Finished Knits

Just a quick post to update a few finished knits

Trying to ship in plenty of  time for Christmas there are quite a few I neglected to take photos of but here are a few things I’ve recently completed

A replacement shorts and sweater set for a 14-16 inch doll

I had donated 3-4 sets to an adoption fundraiser and missed removing the original set from the Etsy shop. I only realized my mistake when I was wrapping to ship….this is the replacement set for an understanding Mama.

Ahoy Princess Beret Pattern by Elena Nodel & knit using Blissful Knits Adore superwash.

An interesting pattern, one that had me learning a few new stitches.  It was finished with a coordinating flower on the sideIMG_1594

Just listed, a 12-16 skirt.

I’ve just enough left of the main color for a coordinating shrug if needed.

IMG_1619

And a few sewn cotton skirts listed to the shop.

These will fit 14-18 inch dolls

IMG_1612

& SOCK MONKEYS!!

IMG_1574

And for Sara, the winner of the skirt give away…they  are ready to ship this afternoon

Here is one of her choices

IMG_1610

There were 5-6 other shipments that went out I realized to late without photos…which really bugs me!  I’m hoping the Mama’s will send pics

One set of mitts to finish for Christmas shipping today.

Not to bad with a fractured arm, torn rotator cuff and bicep if I do say so myself!

Off to knit!

Stay warm out there

“Fresh” Summer Shrug

It’s amazing what you can do with leftovers.

Last September I finished this YYMN custom.  I had a tad of leftovers, about 1.5 oz.  I always feel a bit uncomfortable when there is excess like this, I never know what to do with it & feel a bit guilty even when the customer says to keep it.  When the Mama asked me to make a spring shrug…well, I found a use for those scraps.

A sweet and simple summer shrug, embellished with the scraps of “Fresh” a wonderful colorway from “Green Strings”

Ribbing on the sleeves, hem & neckline trimmed with “Fresh”

Fresh Green SHrug 001

I’d saved all those little scraps and embellished a simple button flower

Fresh Green SHrug 002

And, with the bits remaining added to the back

Fresh Green SHrug 003

Making sure the design is flat enough it will not be uncomfortable for her little one

I’ve found I love playing with leftovers!

Shorties Stocking and a Custom

Trying To Clear the Needles

This year I plan to spend a few days during Christmas knitting for us. But, to do that guilt free, I’m finishing up a few customs.

My first ever cables

This year, one of my goals was to learn to knit cables….I’d done a fairly good job ignoring that goal…..and almost made it to years end when I was asked to knit these gloves by a very good customer of mine…how could I say no!

Bella's Mittens by Marielle Henault

Using Shasta Daisy Knit’s “Hoot Owl” on bulky merino.

These are so soft and squishy~ Super warm and comfy.

Mitts, Girls sweaters and boku longies 001

They should be in the mail tomorrow if they are dry

And wow, I sure wish I’d tried cables earlier than this, they were so easy!

And matching shrugs for Evie and Alix.

Erika requested washable so I used Lion Brand Vanna Solids with the pattern

“Something Beautiful” Shrug from DaKine KnitsMitts, Girls sweaters and boku longies 003

and accented with sweet Tessa Ann Buttons.

Mitts, Girls sweaters and boku longies 005

Now to see if I can get the matching skirts sewn!

Also on the needles are longies for the YYMN Custom Knit winner.

The mama sent me 3 skeins of Plymouth Yarns BOKU

I started these this morning and am at the gusset now.  I should have them ready to ship by Monday

boku Longies 001

I’d better get to knitting while I can as it looks like we will finally get our tree up to night!

Stay warm out there!

Flowers Gone Wild WIP

We Had a Crazy busy weekend and none of it involved knitting but, the good news is the addition is over half way done!!

I did however get this far on the custom

“Flowers Gone Wild” Skirty before we started on the drywall & mudding.

IMG_3287

I wanted to provide a quick customer update with a few photos. I used my favorite soaker pattern from Little Trunks Knits the “Super Trim Soaker”.

IMG_3288

As you can see the actual soaker and skirty are done with one more leg and the draw cord to complete….Which should be done with in the hour. Smile

Soaker Stocking at Katidids Etsy!

It seems nearly half of my customers are expecting this spring or summer & I’ve had quite  a few request’s for warm weather soakers.

After knitting the long legs of longies all winter, knitting soakers with the “Super Trim Soaker” pattern from Little Trunks Knits feel like instant gratification!

These will be listed tonight or tomorrow in the Katidids Etsy Shop

All will come with waist ties, photos were taken before blocking.

Using one on my hand-dyed

Gender neutral, Brown, Orange White & Teal knit with a nice aran weight merino

super soft and very absorbent

Soakers 004

I’ve had this yarn for a while but it was really to light for a soaker.  More of a sport weight but, knit double stranded it makes a super dense soaker!Soakers 010

On the needles now is another gender neutral colorway.

Another of my hand-dyed on BFL. Teal & Brown Soaker 002

Shades of teal, browns and white.  Super soft and silky for a new baby.

2 test knits are also on the needles with pic’s to come soon.

Thank You For A Great Sale!

I have a ton of orders to ship today and quite a few customs to complete.

Thank you again for a wonderful Black Friday & Cyber Monday sale!

On the needles now are large longies with a custom dye from a fellow Etsian Moonlight & Laughter

Reeds 002

It’s a nice gender neutral colorway, browns, teals & greens with a faint touch of yellow.

These have a 19 inch rise and a 22-23 inch hip with a planned 10-11 inseam but that can be easily customized if they are claimed.

I have a few orders to complete first but, one of my next projects will be the new Fiona Dress or Romper from Sweet Monkey Baby.  Can you say cute! Soooo many options it will be hard to decide which to start first!

Who am I kidding I’ll end up with 2-3 working at once. So go ahead & be an enabler, let me know which you would like to see first.

It’s Been a week of catching up

All the back logged knitting so I have a few customs in the mail

For Nicole, a pair of longies to match the Elizabeth Tunic and  shorties she had made this summer.

Night Before Christmas & Cowgirl 708

I knew she intended on ordering longies for winter made so, I saved the leftover colorway to tie it all together.

Nice way to extend the use of an outfit Nicole!

Solid green longies to coordinate with the Crushed Daffodils Elizabeth Tunic for….another Nicole!

Stripes and Green 013I thought I was out of it but i found a tiny bit of the coordinating colorway, Enough for a drawstring at least so I’ll make it and send it along.

Congrats on your impending birth!

Trying to find another set of needles to replace those I left on the bus, I started rooting around in one of my projects bins and found these longies started.  We all have them, projects we start and then set aside for one reason or another.  I have quite a few I work on between customs but, these are a pair I forgot all about.

I can’t tell you when I started them but based on the other items I would say last winter!

Stripes and Green 016

I’ll be selling them in the Etsy Shop as seconds, due to a flaw in the black stripe… which I didn’t see until I cast off.

Working customs…

Using “Legend of a Cowgirl" on the needles now is a Elizabeth Tunic and longies for baby Gabby.  Night Before Christmas & Cowgirl 709

I love this colorway and can’t wait to see it completed.

With Tessa Ann buttons of course!

I’ve a other projects in the works including a few holiday knits so start tuned!
