Starting The Fall Knits

It’s 90 degrees out and I’m starting fall knits….

sounds CrAzY right?

With my arm injury unfortunately I couldn’t knit for several months.  This summer the shop sold down till it was nearly empty & I feel like I’m starting all over …

Maybe I need to have a Grand Re-opening? Hmm, need to think about that more.

Anyways, new items stocked to the Katidids Etsy Shop

Pixie hat/BOGO from Carina Spencer….when worn the corners pop up.  Knit to coordinate with

Waldorf Doll Longies using 100Purewool.

Bits left over from the newborn outfit

Both are listed to the shop & ready to ship.

Right now the needles are actually empty!

Doesn’t happen very often LOL! I stayed up last night finishing a bit of personal knitting & I’ll have photos to show once it’s blocked.

Hmm, what’s next?  I’m thinking something a bit girlie

Have a great week!

At customers requests, I’ve started listing the doll clothes as separates rather than sets.  I’ll be separating the existing sets as well and,  provide links in listings to coordinating garments…I should have most of them done this week but, don’t hesitate to give me a shout out if there is something specific you’d like.

More to come in the next few days

Have a wonderful day

“Fresh” Summer Shrug

It’s amazing what you can do with leftovers.

Last September I finished this YYMN custom.  I had a tad of leftovers, about 1.5 oz.  I always feel a bit uncomfortable when there is excess like this, I never know what to do with it & feel a bit guilty even when the customer says to keep it.  When the Mama asked me to make a spring shrug…well, I found a use for those scraps.

A sweet and simple summer shrug, embellished with the scraps of “Fresh” a wonderful colorway from “Green Strings”

Ribbing on the sleeves, hem & neckline trimmed with “Fresh”

Fresh Green SHrug 001

I’d saved all those little scraps and embellished a simple button flower

And, with the bits remaining added to the back

Fresh Green SHrug 003

Making sure the design is flat enough it will not be uncomfortable for her little one

I’ve found I love playing with leftovers!

The Amanda Hat, Ready for the mail

Talk about a handful of squishy yummy-ness. Knit to coordinate with the “Bella Mittens” . I think this was the perfect combination of pattern and wool.  The Amanda Hat & Shasta Daisy Knits bulky

“Hoot Owl”

The Amanda Hat 005

It was an interesting lace pattern to knit

This hat is not designed to hug your head, rather just slip on.  The brim is designed a tad longer than most to provide extra ear protection.

Well, I think this is the last of the custom knits until the first of the year

Time to get something done for my own family and reintroduce myself to my wheel “Joy”

The Amanda Hat 008 It’s been about 9 months since I broke my foot & had to quit spinning before I really got started.  This next week is “play” week for me

Wishing you and yours all the Blessings Christmas brings

Custom Honeysuckle Set in the mail

I just completed knitting the

Honeysuckle Top/Dress/Tunic from EviePants

& what a sweet pattern!

Some tops can become tedious after a knitting a few times but, this pattern has enough stitch changes to keep you on your toes.  I’d not knit a lateral braid before so it was a learning experience for me also.

New spaces new places

My new work room is ready!

A nice large shelved closet for some of my fabrics and a safe place to store dyes and small items from little fingers.

I’ve yet to find counters and cabinets I like but, I’ll be able to consolidate all the wool to one room (umm yes, just the wool)..  I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am & I know the hubby will be to have the living-room reclaimed.

Large windows for plenty of sunlight, even on dreary winter days

I’ll pick up a couple of folding tables as a temporary sewing counters for the sewing machines and sergers,  A nice generous cutting table is being custom built by my wonderful & talented husband.

I have an idea of what I would like for cabinets and counters but plan to use the space for a bit to see what would actually work best for me.   Besides, I need to knit some of this stash down to have room for those counters and cabinets!

Now to tackle the rest of the wool, wish me luck!
