Sugar Plum Waldorf dresses finally listed

I’ve had these dresses nearly ready for over a month.

They have been in the design works since early summer but, special orders and my sewing machine took all my spare time.

With Christmas and Black Friday shopping on the way I decided I needed to make them a priority!I

This first dress is washable…I fell in love with the colors & thought most little girls would as well.  The 2 accent buttons are from Corina of Ayarina’s Button shop on Etsy

IMG_3511

This single skein of gradient wool has sat in my wool basket for months waiting to decide what it wanted to be. In the middle of knitting the first dress, it nearly jumped up and down shouting at me.  I love how it turned out with the shades of lavender to purple flowing down the dress

IMG_3518

A few other items listed

A bright skirt to match nearly any top or sweater

IMG_3514

A sweet skirt and sweater set

IMG_3500

And rainbow longies for a smaller doll, (which will be listed this afternoon.)

IMG_3489

3 or 4 sweater in bright colors will also be listed once I sew buttons on…and that will happen if I can put down the next Sugar Plum dress!

And yes!  I will have store wide Black Friday sale!!

Info to follow tomorrow here and on Facebook!

Are you ready for Thanksgiving?

Have a wonderful day!

Sweet Vintage Sweet

Another sweet pattern from DaKine Knits. If you’ve not knit one you are missing out. Super fun and a quick knit.  Since our leaves have turned and the frost has been showing early mornings I thought stocking a few warm hats to the Etsy Shop would be a good idea.

Here are a few I recently added

 IMG_2873IMG_3069IMG_2951IMG_2861

A few Poppy Hats were added as well

 IMG_2849IMG_2852IMG_2858IMG_2829

And a couple of custom hats that have shipped

IMG_3189IMG_3192

And I’ve yet to list…about 5 more.

As always they are waiting for photos.

Summer saw us super busy with family & the garden so posting’s were far and few between. I still knit off and on so there are numerous items to list yet. Longies are being stocked weekly, doll clothes are piled waiting for….you guessed it photos!

The next few days I’ll have posts of recently listed longies and doll clothes.

I’m back open for customs!

I have a few in progress (oh,I need to up-date the customs page!) and will have plenty of time for a few Christmas knits as well.

Welcome Fall!

Stay warm out there!

Starting The Fall Knits

It’s 90 degrees out and I’m starting fall knits….

sounds CrAzY right?

With my arm injury unfortunately I couldn’t knit for several months.  This summer the shop sold down till it was nearly empty & I feel like I’m starting all over …

Maybe I need to have a Grand Re-opening? Hmm, need to think about that more.

Anyways, new items stocked to the Katidids Etsy Shop

Pixie hat/BOGO from Carina Spencer….when worn the corners pop up.  Knit to coordinate with

IMG_2727

Small Longies.  A next to the skin soft merino wool. I love the colors in this, a twist on the traditional Camo with greys blended in

IMG_2685

Waldorf Doll Longies using 100Purewool.

Bits left over from the newborn outfit

IMG_2807

Both are listed to the shop & ready to ship.

Right now the needles are actually empty!

Doesn’t happen very often LOL! I stayed up last night finishing a bit of personal knitting & I’ll have photos to show once it’s blocked.

Hmm, what’s next?  I’m thinking something a bit girlie

Have a great week!

This & That

OOPS! Posted here rather than my personal blog!

Ah…., Monday.  Oops I mean Tuesday!  Reality kicks back in. We had such a fun weekend with family. You know how it is, weddings and funerals are the only time you have the chance to see some family due to time, distance & commitments.  A few of my husbands cousins were in from Ohio and PA.  We had 2 days together, talking, eating and laughing as they relived childhood memories & we created new.
But real life kicks back in…
The boys helped me clear over half of the underbrush in the back where I will place the compost bins…hot and stick it was about 86 with super high humidity…we stopped before we melted and cooled off with popsicles.
The wild blackberries are ripening.  Mr. Fix-It has been donning long sleeves, jeans & boots every few evenings and picking what he can. He’s gone out 2 evenings and harvested a bit over 2 gallonsField picking
This was last nights haul….he said they are just starting to ripen & we’ll both need large buckets when they fully ripen.  I believe this batch will be blackberry jam.
Mike and Jessie brought us a few of their berries as a thank you when they picked up the boys &
 Black Berry cobbler

thrilled Mr. Fix-It with a cobbler.
Since the oven was already on, I used some fresh picked zucchini and made a few loaves of 20130715_162157
Chocolate zucchini bread. It weighs a ton but is soooo good!

Green beans are calling my name to be harvested this morning.  Since it’s already 78 degrees and they are calling for high 90s I’m heading out to get that done.  Jessie is popping in to help me can some this morning/afternoon.  I have a feeling I’m going to regret not being out at first light!
Have you harvested much this year?

IMG_2717

The measurements are listed and will fit a variety of  12-16 inch dolls.

At customers requests, I’ve started listing the doll clothes as separates rather than sets.  I’ll be separating the existing sets as well and,  provide links in listings to coordinating garments…I should have most of them done this week but, don’t hesitate to give me a shout out if there is something specific you’d like.

More to come in the next few days

Have a wonderful day

Staying Inside Sewing

is my plan for the day.

Yesterday was a surprising 71 degrees and I was out running errands in my shirt sleeves.  Today it’s 38 and getting colder.  Balmy weather for you up north with chattering teeth becoming buried in snow I know. I think I would rather have a sustained cold than this roller coaster weather.  So I’m hibernating inside with a bit of sewing

My project this morning, working on a quilt. IMG_2069

The blocks are all cut to size, ready and waiting for me to cut & add the upper & lower borders.  How I’ll actually place the blocks I’m not sure.  I had a great design in mind and accidently trimmed a bunch of blocks 3/4 of an inch to short.  The adage “measure twice cut once” comes to mind!

I think quilting is a bit like life. It may not always turn out as you planned but by using what you have it’s still good!

A treat for me

Another  “Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief”

Only this one is for me!

We were at the RV show and I needed something I could work on that didn’t take a lot of focus.  This turned out to be the perfect project & I love the results.

I used Plymouth Yarn “Happy Feet”.

The colors greens, wine and berry with a touch of honey will blend are perfect with my wardrobe.

IMG_1993

A little something that I an toss on for added warmth and to dress up my jeans.

Wip’s are coming along.  I’ve a sweater waiting for a hood & I know it will involve a serious game of yardage chicken..reading mitts

one to match the hood and another in shades of greys.

I should have updates and finished photos Monday

Have a wonderful weekend

Age Of Steam and Brass Revisited

Off the needles and in the mail.

I love the simplicity of this pattern which can be worn as a shawl or, draped in front as a scarf.

It’s a relatively quick knit and allows colors like this “Nova” from Blissful Knits

IMG_1918

become paint on a canvas

IMG_1919

Right now it’s somewhere between Indiana and Modesto, California on the way to my niece Kelly.

I hope she finds as much joy in using it as I did in the knitting.

*******************

I’m still working on the second Pfeiffer Falls Hood.

Knitting this many cable repeats has been surprisingly peaceful

IMG_1932

As of this morning it measures 45 inches long which, is just a hair over half way….unless the mama decides she would like it longer.

Organizing My Patterns

My patterns are/were out of control.

When I moved my yarn and fabric into the studio I had everything neat and organized.  Everything but the patterns that is.  Finally able to have a dedicated space, as I gathered them up from various spots about the house I stacked them on the shelves….and as the pile got bigger ….the less I wanted to dive into this mess.

IMG_1921

Then through the early fall & holidays I had a case of frenzied knitting for gifts and customers…..and printed more patterns.

IMG_1920

And there were even more designs I knew I didn’t have time to make then but, didn’t want to forget about.   Needless to say I’ve been finding patterns all over….. in the kitchen, in folders in the studio….

IMG_1922

I had a major mess.

I spent yesterday alternating between knitting and sorting patterns. I admit it was a all day project and a bit over whelming.  At one point my entire dining room was covered in paper piles, kids hats, sweaters, mittens socks etc.…then the same for adults. But by the end of the day all were sorted in to categories and nearly half into notebooks

IMG_1931

3 notebooks down and 4 to go

IMG_1929

The remaining piles are sorted so it should be quick work to get them in notebooks

Any patterns I pitched were shredded and added to the compost bin & the folders were some I’d already had.

From here on out I shouldn’t have a problem keeping them organized.

How do you keep your patterns sorted?

Fresh Listings For Waldorf Babies

My brother in law had a few dental appointments last week involving oral surgery….needless to say he couldn’t drive so I was his ride.  While sitting in the waiting room people watching/waiting I knit.  I’ve a few customs in progress but, I don’t like taking others yarn out and about…so I grabbed some stash yarn to play a bit.

Using the last of the Gradient color way from “Little Monkey Stitch N Spin”

& patterns from Ashely Darling…

The Darling Little Romper….shorts or swim suit version for a 10-12 inch doll

IMG_1858

The Darling Little Sweater Dress for a 10-12 inch doll

IMG_1830

And a modified 3 Tiered skirt and scarf or kerchief also for a 10-12 inch doll.IMG_1852

A few customs nearly ready….

Finishing up a couple of custom rompers

These are designed to fit a 16 inch “Vine Baby”

Rough unblocked progress photos for the Mama

I need to work on the eyes for this one.  I tried to set them so you could change the expression but it turned out a bit creepy to me

IMG_1867

The tiger is still waiting for his face.  Trying to decide what I want to do here

IMG_1818

A sweater who’s hood should be finished this evening.

I’m using “Fleur” from Blissful Knits and it’s a dream to work with.

IMG_1349

More progress photos should be up tomorrow.
